The Blue Star Bridge Walk is a fun celebration for Labor day! The whole community comes together to celebrate. It’s a mimic of the Mackinac Bridge Walk. The walk starts at 9:30 am and ends at 10:00. The staff has a refreshment stand in the middle of the bridge. At the end of the walk you receive a “certificate of accomplishment.” After the walk there is a nice breakfast. Homemade breakfast is only a $5 fee for adults and $3 for students. There’s tasty pancakes, sausage, fruit, and much more. It’s a time to just eat and hangout with your friends. So don’t worry about having breakfast in the morning, it’s all covered. There are many years to come on the Blue Star Bridge Walk. The Blue Star Bridge Walk has been going on for 15 years now, it will be 16 years in 2014. Many of these bridge walks are all scattered throughout the state of Michigan. The town crier always announces the start of the bridge walk. "It started as a spoof of the Mackinac walk among friends, but as more people started showing up, it became bigger," says Kierzek.
