Douglas Easter Egg Hunt
Many people think of Easter as a day to hang out with friends and relax. But the nice thing about easter is you can also have fun hunting for candy and playing games. In Douglas they hold an Easter Egg Hunt ( that is much more than that and this one comes early. The people are hunting for candy and looking at all the crazy home made hats. The hat contest is a big part of the day which is unlike any easter egg hunt you will find. It is hosted by the people of Saugatuck and Douglas. The Douglas Easter Egg hunt is like no other.
The Hat Judging contest is a very fun event. Around the beginning of the event people from all over bring their homemade hats to Berry Field, a small baseball field on E Center Street in Douglas. and enter into the hat-judging contest. To be able to enter you must be between the ages of 2-12 or an adult of the age of 18, you also have to have a homemade hat. The Easter egg hunt is probably what most people come for. The Easter Egg Hunt starts at 1:00 along with the parade which the hosts have every year down Central Street. With the hat judging, things can get a bit crazy but fun. The hosts hide all of the eggs along with the candy which is donated, all around Berry Field. Finding the eggs may be harder than it sounds. Children will usually carry baskets or something to hold the eggs in because having 50 eggs in your arms and trying to reach down and grab another may not be the best idea.
One of the best factors of the Easter Egg Hunt is that everything is donated. The candy for the stuffed Easter eggs, the Easter eggs themselves and even some of the materials for the parade floats are donated. If you want to donate to this great event you would contact the people that host the event. Most of the people of Saugatuck and Douglas participate. The best contact is Angella Carrion (269)-873-5092.
